About Me

Thank you so much for visiting Mapping Moments! My development as an artist began at the College of the Holy Cross where I studied studio art and economics. This combination of creative and analytical thinking in my studies began to manifest itself in my work, with my compositions striking a balance of abstract and realistic elements forming a harmonic integration of diverse elements. The culmination of my studio art major was a large-scale Boston street map painting (featured on the right) which was created as a wedding gift for my older sister. There is no better feeling than giving a thoughtful gift to a loved one. This painting told the story of Kaitlyn and Kevin's relationship reflecting on the significant places and experiences they shared throughout their relationship. This piece served as a meaningful representation of their love story, but also made a beautiful painting to hang up in their new home. This piece began my interest in how the appropriation of maps can serve as a motif for life experiences. Maps are a construction of place and how we live and experience that place. As a strong visual entity, the map can be used to tell a personal history while simultaneously creating a relatable, yet complex and beautiful composition. Exploring the way line, and color can interact to tell a meaningful personal story is the overarching idea of each piece I create. The significance of place and the interactions of people and memories in that place peer through the intricate details and colors of my paintings. I want my art to give every person the opportunity to give a meaningful gift to someone they care about. I want my art to give every person the opportunity to have the perfect piece of wall decor in their home. I want to work with you to map a moment of your life or the life of a loved one and create a perfect piece.
